Fair Housing Statement

1. Equal Housing Opportunity
It is the policy of Berryman Brokers to comply fully with all federal, state, and local fair housing laws and to provide equal professional service without regard to race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other class protected under applicable law.
2. Federal Fair Housing Act
The Federal Fair Housing Act, enacted in 1968 and amended in 1988, prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of dwellings, and in other housing-related transactions, based on the following protected classes:
- Race
- Color
- National origin
- Religion
- Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation)
- Familial status (including children under 18 living with parents or legal custodians, pregnant women, and people seeking custody of children under 18)
- Disability
3. Washington State Law Against Discrimination
Washington State law (RCW 49.60) provides additional protections beyond federal law. Under Washington State law, it is illegal to discriminate in real estate transactions based on:
- All federally protected classes listed above
- Marital status
- Sexual orientation and gender expression or identity
- Honorably discharged veteran or military status
- Use of a trained dog guide or service animal
- Citizenship or immigration status
- Source of income (including Section 8 vouchers and other government subsidies)
4. Our Commitment to Clients

5. Required Disclosure: Washington Law of Real Estate Agency
Washington state law requires real estate brokers to provide the pamphlet titled "The Law of Real Estate Agency" to all parties to whom they are providing real estate brokerage services. This disclosure clarifies the agency relationship between the broker, the buyer, and the seller. A copy of this pamphlet is available upon request.
6. Reporting Discrimination
If you believe you have experienced housing discrimination, you have the right to file a complaint. You may file with:

- Washington State Human Rights Commission: 1-800-233-3247 or www.hum.wa.gov
- Northwest Fair Housing Alliance: Resources and counseling for Washington state residents
